The AGA is pleased to present another season of national competition for U.S. youth. This year the USYGC will not be selecting our representative to the World Youth Go Championships, due to a sudden deadline change from the Ing Foundation. The USYGC will still be held though, with prizes for contestants at every level.
Finalists selected at a series of regional tournaments will meet in June for the finals. The AGHS will be running an online qualifier on May 1st, register online here. Finalists will be entered into a pool to receive $400 scholarships to to this year's AGA Summer Youth Go Camp, courtesy of The American Go Foundation. 16 Scholarships will be awarded.
The finals will also determine National Dan, Single Digit Kyu (SDK), and Double Digit Kyu (DDK) Champions. The strongest players in these categories, from each qualifying event, will compete for the national title. Qualifier directors should submit the names and ranks of these youth to usygc@usgo.org. The SDK and DDK championships will be run by the American Go Honor Society (AGHS) and will be on June 5th and 6th. The winners will receive trophies, and prizes will be awarded in the following brackets: 1-5 dan, 1-4 kyu, 5-9 kyu, 10-15 kyu, 16-20 kyu, 21-25 kyu, 26 and up kyu. Contestants will also receive free audio go lessons, courtesy of Guo Juan.
