Officer Bios (2018-2019)



Gilbert Feng

Co-President, Gilbert Feng

Gilbert Feng is currently a senior at Homestead High School in Cupertino, California. He has been playing Go for over a decade and is currently ranked as an AGA 4-dan. Gilbert has competed in various tournaments, with notable accomplishments including the US Open 1-dan division champion in 2014 and 2-dan division champion in 2015. Gilbert is very passionate about spreading Go to others. He achieved a certificate in Go teaching from the American Go Association in 2016, and taught Go at a local Chinese school. Outside of Go, Gilbert is enthusiastic about mathematics, computers, fitness, and basketball.

 
 
Brandon Ho

Co-President, Brandon Ho

Brandon Ho is a senior at East Brunswick High School in New Jersey. He has played Go competitively for 5 years, and is currently AGA 5 dan. He has attended many local and national Go tournaments, including the U.S. Go Congress, which he attended for 3 years in a row. Brandon has started a Go class in his Chinese school, and has been teaching there for over 3 years. He also organizes a Go club in his public library, where he introduces the game to new people, and has been teaching there for over a year. When he isn’t playing go, Brandon enjoys playing piano, competing in math competitions, and pondering his existence.

 
 
Jeremy Chiu

Vice President, Jeremy Chiu

Jeremy Chiu is a junior at Lynbrook High School in San Jose, CA. He began playing go at the age of five, and his love of the game has only grown since then. Currently rated AGA 7d, Jeremy has represented the US in several international youth and adult tournaments, including the 2013 and 2015 World Youth Go Championship and 2016 Korean Prime Ministers' Cup. Outside of playing go, Jeremy enjoys doing math, spending unhealthily large amounts of time on video games, and sleeping eight and a half hours a day.

 
 
Melissa Cao

Promotion Head, Melissa Cao

Melissa is currently a sophomore at the Peddie School in New Jersey. She has been playing Go for five years and is currently AGA 3 dan. Melissa has represented the U.S. in the 5th Globis U-20 Tournament in Japan and the 35th World Youth Goe Championship in Germany. She has also taught Go at her local Huaxia Chinese School for several years and recently created the Board Game Club to promote Go at her school. Outside of playing Go, Melissa enjoys painting, playing piano, running cross country and playing lacrosse.

 
 
Aaron Ye

Treasurer, Aaron Ye

I am a junior in Cupertino High, California. I started playing go at the age of 5 and a half and won the Junior Division of the US Youth Go Championships for three years in a row from 2010-2012. 6 times of Redmond Cup Champion (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018), and attained the Redmond Meijin Honorary title. Represented the US at the World Youth Go Championships three times (4th in 2011, 6th in 2012, and 3rd in 2016). Represented the US in the World Amateur Go Championships and the Liming Cup. I have been doing go related community services for 3 consecutive years which include teaching Go in a local Chinese school. I am also the president of Cupertino High go club.

 
 
Brandon Zhou

Tournament Director, Brandon Zhou

Brandon Zhou is currently a sophomore at The Westminster Schools, in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been playing go for 8 years and is currently an AGA 5 dan. He was the junior representative for the United States at the 2014 World Youth Go Championship. He also teaches go at his local Chinese school, and hopes to have a go club up and running at his own school by 2019. Outside of go, he enjoys playing saxophone and math.

 
 
Gabriella Su

Tournament Director, Gabriella Su

Gabriella is currently a senior at Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School in Bridgewater, New Jersey. She has played Go for ten years and is AGA 6dan. Gabby represented the U.S. at the 2012 World Mind Sports Games, the 34th World Youth Go Championship, and the 2016 and 2017 International Pair Go Championships. She has taught Go at her local Chinese school and hopes to introduce Go to more people. Besides Go, she enjoys traveling, taking photos, and playing tennis.

 
 
 
 
Raymond Feng

Webmaster, Raymond Feng

Raymond Feng is currently a freshman attending Homestead High School and an AGA 3 dan. He has participated in 5 Go Congresses and has competed in the Redmond Cup finals for the junior division. He is also very interested in go AI development. Other activities that he enjoys doing include hanging out with friends, running, competing in math competitions, and coding/web design.

 
 
Yifan Zhang

Secretary, Yifan Zhang

I’m currently a junior at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, California. I have been playing Go since elementary school and I am currently AGA 4 dan. I won first place of US Open 3 dan section in 2015 and second place of Southern California Championship dan section in 2017. In 2017, I founded Bosco Tech Math and Go Club to integrate mathematical thinking into the art of Go and promote the game to more people, including our band director. Besides playing Go, I am also part of the band, ASB, and ASM(Associated Society of Metals).

AGHS Volunteering - If you are interested in volunteering for the AGHS and furthering go in America, check out the application. The application is quick and simple, yet it offers a rewarding experience in the AGHS.

You can volunteer in the tournament department and public relations. There are many subcategories of volunteering under those two main areas. Check out the application and job description sheet that following the information on FLIP.
