AGHS

The American Go Honors Society (AGHS) strives to provide a supportive environment to develop Go skills, confidence, and self-growth regardless of age, gender, or location. We serve to empower a new generation of American Go players to stand alongside powerhouses of Asian nations in Go.

Brief History of AGHS

In 2000, a manga team brought Hikaru no Go into the English-speaking world for the first time. The manga series was such a hit that the team created an online Go club, but the membership soon dwindled. Years later, three North American high school students created the Sea Otters Go Club to promote Go among American youth. Their programs led to the founding of the American Go Honor Society to develop leadership skills in the American youth to become the next leaders of Go.
